WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE SHOES?

I just recently went to Nashville to one of my favorite conferences, Business Boutique.  This is such a great gathering of women, if you have a small business or you want to bring your dream to life  and transform your hobby into a business, you should definitely check it out and plan to attend one next year. So, I was racing to the airport (as usual) to attend this year’s conference and of course the TSA line at the airport was longer than usual and everyone in this excessively long line was at a “Defcon 5" stress level.  There was only one TSA line open and it was moving at a snail’s pace and none of the TSA personnel seemed to have a sense of urgency to get any of us to our fights in a timely fashion.  There was lot of silence, a lot of sighs, a lot of looking at watches and phones as the time slowly creeped by.

As I was standing there watching the drama play out around me, a girl, one row over from me breaks the “in-line don’t talk to strangers silence” code.  She boldly says, “Those Shoes are AMAZING!”  “Where did you get those shoes?”  Of course, I’m sweating, looking at my watch, thinking I am going to miss my flight and you want to know about my shoes???  But, let’s be real, what girl doesn’t want someone to notice her shoes? I quickly answered, I have no idea, but I love these shoes too.  Our conversation began to draw the attention of at least three other females surrounding us and the high-stress TSA line became focused on my amazing shoes rather than the threat of missing a flight. (I’m not going to lie, I was totally fine to focus on my shoes). All of a sudden everyone in the line became focused on a relaxed and fun conversation about my shoes.  A simple distraction that brought some light-hearted peace to this high stress situation.

So, after a great shoe discussion, I finally made it to the front of the line.  After a quick and non-detailed look at my ID and my boarding pass, I proceeded to take off my shoes to follow the TSA rules.  Once I made it through the full body scan, the pat-down and the bag search (seriously?). I was able to put my shoes back on.  As I walked away from the security area in my “amazing shoes”, I started thinking about the fact that we all have places to walk in our shoes, we can take steps of stress or steps of peace.  No one else can walk in your shoes.  They are yours and where you walk, how you look to others, how you influence, it matters!  I had a Cinderella moment, one shoe can change.a life or at least the atmosphere of the airport security line!  The truth be known, I was flattered she noticed my shoes, I have a lot of shoes but what I carry in my shoes can be powerful.  No one can fill my shoes but me.  God has given each one of us a life of shoes to walk in.  Be YOU and bring peace in your shoes!  Ephesians 6:15 says, “…your feet are fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of PEACE.” I hope when I wear all the shoes I love, I remember where I walk I can bring stress or I can bring peace. When I have on my shoes of peace and I take steps into situations and places, confusion and stress can’t remain!  I want God’s peace in my life to be as impactful as my shoes were. God, let me walk today with shoes of peace that bring your peace to every stressful and overwhelming situation!

God has given each one of us a life of shoes to walk in. Be YOU and bring peace in your shoes!

Sincerely - Angela
